Resident Evil Veronica Original vs. Remake

According to the official Steam listing, the remake retains the core identity of the 2000 release while introducing modernized gameplay, more detailed graphics and a reimagined storyline. PlayStation Blog coverage reports that parts of the original narrative will be adjusted to connect with the broader series lore established since 2000.

Developer interviews report a third-person direction and the involvement of teams behind the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes. The producer also highlighted the original game's importance to the franchise and explained the choice of the shorter Veronica title.

Specific changes to puzzles, campaign structure, combat mechanics, room layouts, item locations, boss sequences and cinematic cutscenes remain unannounced. Returning players should not assume that every original detail carries over unchanged.

New players do not necessarily need to play the original first. The remake's current synopsis provides the essential setup around Claire, Chris, Umbrella and Rockfort Island.
